Georgia Natural Gas and Slow Connection of Service

k, for starters here’s the fine print: I was late on my natural gas bill and my service was disconnected, so for my part, I'm responsible for this inconvenience.
However, I immediately paid my bill in full then requested a reconnection. Georgia Natural Gas is unable to schedule a reconnection sooner than 7 full days from now.
It also happens that if you are a City of Atlanta resident, all connections have to be switched on by Georgia Natural Gas. No certified contractors may be used, and no other providers may perform the connection switch-on.
So I'm now a hostage to GNG for this 7 day waiting period. I find this unbelievable and have to believe that another Georgia state natural gas provider would be able to accomplish this much, much sooner.
Within GNG's City of Atlanta service area, is it really that difficult to have a technician come by within 24 to 48 hours and turn on service?
Wow. I'm shopping elsewhere.
