Energy Saving Experiment, How I Lowered My Electric Bill

Without question, the cost of monthly bills is not set in stone. Saving energy by taking a few conservation measures has reduced my monthly utility bills.
I used a little common sense and then followed it with some research. The first step I took to saving energy and money was to compile a detailed statement of exactly how much money my utility bills were costing me each month. I did this in an attempt to track the progress made with the few conserving methods I used.
The first thing I did was address my cooling bill, since I live in Texas. I bought two fans and one single room air conditioner that I only run in the evening in my bedroom.
Another idea to save on your electrical bill is while the fans (in the living room and kitchen) are on I leave doors and windows completely closed. When cooking I open the windows in the kitchen and make an effort to always turn the fan off.
Also, if the temperature is pleasant then I don't run the room air conditioner in my bedroom at all.
Overall, the steps I have taken above have greatly reduced my electricity bill. On average my bill is $30 dollars less than this time last year. It proves that a little common sense can go a long way to saving energy at home.
